NEWSLETTER APRIL 2011

Greetings Everyone,

At Rancho La Bellota we started our spring season back in February and have been working non stop since then.  Now that’s good news!  Besides regular group activity throughout the rest of this season, we have some up and coming events that we thought you might like to know about.

DIA DEL CABALLO, MAY 21-23, Saturday to Monday

Join us at La Bellota for the Annual Festival of Dia Del Caballo held in the Guadalupe Valley, at the vineyards of Adobe Guadalupe.  This festival is a lovely tribute to the horse.  Their website is www.diadelcaballo.com .  If you are interested in this event just let us know and we will give you the details.

GOLD MINE RIDE, MAY 26-30, Thursday to Monday

As on previous trips, we will visit the gold mines of Real Del Castillo, and also some of the neighboring ranches in the area.  We will explore the surrounding area which was the first capitol of Baja California in 1876.  If you are interested in this ride let us know so we can send you all the details.

We have something very new to share with all of you. Raul is not thrilled about it (he loves his tequila!) but this is something extra that we would like to offer our guests.   We now have a La Bellota wine.  A small artisan vineyard made us our very own blend.  So next time you’re at the ranch if you would like to try a glass of La Bellota wine we’ll certainly have it there for you to try.

Some of you know that I have a small line of natural products for the skin all of which I make from plants that grow right here on the ranch.  Right now I have a series of five wonderful healing salves and soon I will add three types of oils to sooth your skin and three Hydrosols for face and body care.  To be announced soon!

Our final piece of news from La Bellota is that our son Ricky performed his first surgical procedure on one of our sheep.  A ewe had given birth and she later developed a prolapsed uterus.  Ricky appointed me as his assistant during the procedure which was very exciting.   He is excelling in school and it definitely shows.  Of course we are very proud of him.

The weather has been in our favor.  All the work that Raul, Ricky and Old Blue the tractor did has really paid off.  The oats are growing well and we expect a great harvest this year.  The horses will be happy.

If anyone is interested in any of the events mentioned above or a regular stay we are just an email away.  We will be happy to answer any/ all of your questions or if you would just like to say hello we would love to hear from you.

Take care and we hope to see you all at the ranch someday soon,

Raul, Caroline, Ricky and Christine
