THE SIERRA DE JUAREZ

PINE FOREST EXPEDITION

NOVEMBER 12-23, 2008

On November 12th, Rancho La Bellota will be leading it’s first expedition to the pine forest of Baja California’s beautiful Sierra de Juarez.
Our first destination will be our own camp at Rancho La Chiripa in the Sierras of Real Del Castillo.  From their we will pass through some of the oldest ranches in the area such as Rancho Real Del Castillo Viejo with the Munoz family who have been working cattle and raising good ranch horses for many years.
We will also pass through La Huerta Indian Reservation where we will be spending the night.  The next day our destination is Rancho Las Cuevitas, where we will be passing through: Rancho Bachicha,  Rancho Aseradero Viejo before reaching our destination of the day.

The following day we will head to the Santa Isabel Mountains in the Sierra de Juarez we will travel through several ranches ending the days trip at Rancho Santa Isabel Viejo.   The expedition will end in Rancho Rodeo de Cota in the heart of the pine forest.
This will be a unique expedition because it has not been done for many years.  On some days it will be long hours in the saddle, 8-10 hours, and other days it will be a little more relaxed.  We have been working closely with the Sierra de Juarez ranch owners and have hired Sr. Pedro Quiñones to be our formal guide through the pine forest.  He is a well known rancher and cattleman in that area and has been recommended for the job.
There will be spectacular scenery and changes in habitat.  You will see everything from oak tree canyons to semi desert terrain and the greenery of the lush pine forest.

Be ready for an adventure of a lifetime!
